The most commercially successful group to come out of the New York punk scene, Blondie was much More dynamic then most of their New York peers, incorporating hip hop, new wave, reggae and disco into their sound. Fronted by sexy songstress Debbie Harry, the group Made a splash on the charts with such songs as "Dreaming," "Atomic," "Heart of Glass," "Rapture," "Call Me," and "The Tide is High,"(the latter four all reached number One on the U.S Billboard singles chart). Though the band was popular in the U.S., they were HUGE in the U.K. with three number One albums (a feat they were unable to achieve in the U.S) and over a dozen top 40 hits. The group reunited in the late 90's and had a number One hit in the U.K. with their song "Maria" in 1999.
