Dust control plays key role in energy future - Jackson Hole Star-Tribune

GILLETTE -- Dust control has become paramount in several Wyoming counties in recent years because air quality regulators could freeze industrial development if ambient air quality thresholds are broken.That's a particularly nasty prospect for a state with big plans to expand its natural gas, oil, coal and electrical generation industries."Many counties are experiencing increased levels of drilling activity that's contributing to a dust problem. Those roads weren't really constructed to handle the type of traffic they're experiencing today," said Rich Douglass, local government coordinator for the Wyoming Department of Transportation.Eight Wyoming counties are slated to receive $2.8 million in federal highway funds meant to control dust from traffic.
