The Marietta TimesVINCENT — The Warren girls basketball team Made a valiant run over the final three periods in an attempt to make up lost ground after falling behind 24-8 at the end of the opening quarter Saturday afternoon. The Warriors, however, were unable to overcome the early deficit and dropped a close 57-52 decision to Zanesville at Warrior Gymnasium. “We outscored them 44-33 in the last three quarters and that is basically having an opportunity to beat a good team and we just couldn’t to it,” Warren coach Kenny DeMoss said. “That Was the main difference in the game between foul shooting and the first quarter because once we figured out that we could play with them we beat them the rest of the game. “We beat ourselves tonight, we are defiantly the same caliber of team as they are in my opinion because we hung right with them, the difference is that they didn’t make the mental mistakes that we did.”Warren pulled to within One point with 1:51 remaining in regulation after junior Kristin Cozzens Made a steal and drove the ball down court for a layup.
