The good news is that they also deliver some of the year’s best beers.Nearly all of the Northwest’s major craft brewers -- those that produce at least 15,000 barrels a year --- offer a winter seasonal that boasts of creativity and festive flavors.Earlier this month, friends and I gathered at an undisclosed tasting room in Castle Rock for our annual sampling. And, for the second consecutive year, Widmer Snow Plow Was the clear winner.The judges consisted of six of my mountain-biking colleagues and myself. Fearing reprisal from vindictive brewmasters, the others asked to remain anonymous. Yes, it’s true: We have no formal credentials. But trust me when I say that post-ride sipping has provided us with a solid knowledge base.We stretched our "Northwest" boundaries to include Sierra Nevada Celebration (Chico, California) and Big Sky Powder Hound (Missoula, Montana).
