MAXINE McKEW: The so-called abortion pill, RU-486, is currently at the centre of an emotional and increasingly bitter debate in this country. While some people regard it as a safe and effective Medication, others have called it a "human pesticide" that is too dangerous to be allowed into the country. Well, despite those sharp differences, it seems that opponents and backers do agree on something. Both acknowledge that people who need RU-486 to treat other medical conditions are getting caught in the middle. Now, One such victim is an Australian woman who believes that RU-486 would halt the growth of her inoperable brain tumour, if only she could get hold of the drug.
