Think of these ads as the sort of dark specter version of the LeBron Nike ads. Garnett fights off a horde of gladiators, leads a platoon into battle, serves as some sort of Batman-ish superhero who saves a woman in distress, does a stand up comedy routine (the punchline of his joke, “No, seriously, you said that too fast!” intrigues me and makes me want to know the setup), and runs around as a little kid with his grown-up head disturbingly placed on the child’s body…all set to some kind of lulliby-like tune. Okay. Random weirdness aside, it actually works pretty well to stay on message with adidas’ slogan: impossible is Nothing. Indeed, with today’s visual effects Technology, Nothing truly is impossible. Still, why the spooky little kid version? Just because you can put his head on a child’s body doesn’t mean that you should. Special effects should be used responsibly, and if They aren’t kept in check you end up with crap like Van Helsing.
