By Emma McGordon TWO art students have turned their studies into a practical art exhibition by decorating the windows of the Rum Story in Whitehaven. Alex McDonald and Katie Hurst, both A-level students at St Benedicts RC School, spent 10 weeks researching The Project which allowed them full access to the Rum Story’s artifacts. They then spent a further two weeks creating the exhibition which will form part of their A-level coursework. Alex said: “I found the subject interesting and enjoyed the research.” Katie added: “ It Was an experience to create a big piece of art.” Their display is on show in the window of the Lowther Street attraction. The Rum Story also wants other students to decorate their windows and has invited schools to get in touch. Wendy Black, Rum Story manager said: “We will give the school a budget and then They decide how They want to use it.”
