I first would like to focus on why I initially thought I would not be in agreement with Nicholson-Lord’s article. It has to do with an implicit assertion he makes in the first few paragraphs: Citing a 1998 story in The Independent, a story which asserted “The population boom is ending,” Nicholson-Lord states “…there are likely to be a few good people out there – people who get their only news on population (and not much of that, either) from their daily Paper -- who May Now imagine that the population ‘problem’ is no more.” In other words, “a few good people” will not believe the World is, or will be, overpopulated because They don’t read the “fine print” in the story, which states otherwise.
