"This Was payday," said Art Rutledge, president of Fawn Electronics, speaking Thursday afternoon by telephone from a neighboring industry's office, Triangle East Tooling & Machining."Everybody's got a check in their hands. Rutledge isn't sure what types of benefits workers will get until the plant reopens.Ironically, the plant Was about to shut down after Thursday until the first of the year, so most employees were going to be off next week anyway."This would have been the last day worked for the majority of the people until Jan. 3," he said.He hoped to be putting employees back to work quickly.
